Poetry – Memories Of An Old Mind

Memories Of An Old Mind

A shadow prevails among the window

Stained glass across earthen surface by candle light

She whispers in old world dialect

Why do women keep their young abreast?

A cross marks the central point of the plaza, a common nervous system

A central point for a nights crackle of fire

Gun shots drizzle and the rain among our heads

Like caskets that did not exist before the calendar year turned its page

The days tell of times picking fruit, oh…. the memories so sweet

Now upon a sidewalk we bear our feet

Before they existed as diamonds were carbon

Painted horses were genetic mutations, old men young

The breath steamed the words of women

Spoken around the night’s conversation, fire warms the spirit
