Diego Martín and Diego Antonio Velasquez – “The Diego Debate” is an article I published in the HGRC Journal Volume 22 Issue 2 April 2014 and focuses on two distinct lineages showing a YDNA connection thus a common paternal link. One of the families is a Martinez lineage from Chimayó and the other a Velasquez lineage from Coyote. These two lineages have good genealogies that trace back to the middle 1700s and ironically one traces Diego Martín married to Encarnación Valerio and the other traces to Diego Antonio Velasquez married to Manuela Marquez. This is an ongoing study with more YDNA samples being tested so stay tuned for any new information. To read this article visit the HGRC website to purchases a copy and or become a member.
